Magical Mystery Hour.

Here's a picture of today's lunch tray.

From General pics

I will write a 1000 word minimum fic for anyone who correctly guesses what's inside that dreaded breaded thing next to the salad.

No, really.

/sigh I really thought I had it with the crumbed cake!

...WHAT? IT WOULD BE AMAZING! XDD

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's not really a shocking item per se - certainly something you'd expect for lunch... it's just that the idea of breading it and deep frying it, let's just say I'd like to find whoever came up with it and then SHOOT THEM.
florahart: a bunch of unrefined produce being bountiful (food)

[personal profile] florahart 2010-10-19 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
fried cheese!

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
No, I wish. I love breaded fried cheese, it was a staple of my diet in the Czech Republic.

[identity profile] entangled-now.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Chicken and cheese!

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, unfortunately not.

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
Fish?

That fruit(?), the one in the lower left-hand corner, that looked like our ciku but I don't think there's ciku in Iceland? *is curious*

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
Nope - fried fish is not an occasion for shock and horror in this country ;)

Lower left hand corner? Oh, are you talking about that thing which according to my menu is a bagel? Well, it's something-that-was-supposed-to-be-a-bagel. I'm not in Iceland, though... I'm in Japan.

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
DO tell!!

Btw, ciku :)

[identity profile] sigrundora.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
mushroom?

and what kind of miso is that? or is it miso?

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope :D

And that's not miso, it's dirty dishwater corn soup.

[identity profile] sigrundora.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Tofu? peppers? lotus? bamboo?

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, nope, nope, nope.

[identity profile] queenriley.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks like a chicken patty to me, but I'm going to guess not since that wouldn't be terribly shocking.

Eggplant? Fried green tomato? I still say it looks like a chicken patty...

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs*

Not really, but you're actually kind of close on one score...

[identity profile] salixbabylon.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Taro root? Tofu?

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Nope and nope.

[identity profile] alphabet26.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing some sort of seafood, octopus or eel, you know.

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's not seafood at all ;)

[identity profile] thessaliad.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Mashed veggie? That looks like kuroke (vegetable/mashed potato croquette). I love those, especially with curry.

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I like kuroke myself, but no, it's not a kuroke. Unfortunately.

[identity profile] jazzqueen.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Svið! :D

[identity profile] jazzqueen.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't right? Awww :C

In that case it's definitely slátur.

... actually can you imagine that? Or is that maybe a thing and I just don't know it? YIKES.

[identity profile] cindy-dutra.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing Fried Okara.

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Nope :D

[identity profile] doctoraicha.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
mashed eel?

tofu?

fruit? maybe pineapple?

[identity profile] sarka.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
No on all of those counts ;)

It's not that the item in question is exotic, at all. It's more "oh dear lord please rain vengeance down upon who ever thought breading and deep frying this was a good idea."

[identity profile] doctoraicha.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Creamed Corn.

[identity profile] ladykatiewench.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
You never told what it is?! Is it something like orange or apple?

Either way...it's been almost two months! You really should tell!
