Here's a picture of today's lunch tray.

From General pics

I will write a 1000 word minimum fic for anyone who correctly guesses what's inside that dreaded breaded thing next to the salad.

No, really.

It's not really a shocking item per se - certainly something you'd expect for lunch... it's just that the idea of breading it and deep frying it, let's just say I'd like to find whoever came up with it and then SHOOT THEM.

No, I wish. I love breaded fried cheese, it was a staple of my diet in the Czech Republic.

Fish?

That fruit(?), the one in the lower left-hand corner, that looked like our ciku but I don't think there's ciku in Iceland? *is curious*

Nope - fried fish is not an occasion for shock and horror in this country ;)

Lower left hand corner? Oh, are you talking about that thing which according to my menu is a bagel? Well, it's something-that-was-supposed-to-be-a-bagel. I'm not in Iceland, though... I'm in Japan.

And that's not miso, it's dirty dishwater corn soup.

Looks like a chicken patty to me, but I'm going to guess not since that wouldn't be terribly shocking.

Eggplant? Fried green tomato? I still say it looks like a chicken patty...

Mashed veggie? That looks like kuroke (vegetable/mashed potato croquette). I love those, especially with curry.

No on all of those counts ;)

It's not that the item in question is exotic, at all. It's more "oh dear lord please rain vengeance down upon who ever thought breading and deep frying this was a good idea."
